Powering Digital Credit Applications: Across Multiple Lines of Business for a Financial Services Client

A financial services company provides credit and payment processing across three lines of business — multiple lines of business — through its proprietary Salesforce-based platform. Since October 2021, RTS Labs has embedded senior Salesforce engineers directly into the client's Enterprise Application team, co-developing the Digital Credit Application across all three lines and supporting several parallel projects that have grown around it. Five years, nineteen+ SOWs, one consistent partnership model.

1. The Challenge

The client’s Enterprise Application team owns the Digital Credit Application (DCA) — the workflow that takes the client’s commercial customers through credit qualification and onboarding. The team needed sustained Salesforce delivery capacity that could integrate cleanly with the client’s existing engineering platform, navigate the complexity of three distinct lines of business, and support several parallel projects that emerged around it.

Hiring senior Salesforce engineers at scale was slow; contracting one-off resources didn’t match the team’s velocity. The client needed a partnership model — engineers who’d embed for the long haul, ramp once, and stay aligned with the client’s roadmap as scope shifted quarter over quarter.

A Credit Application Across Three Lines of Business

These lines of business each have distinct workflows, regulatory profiles, and customer-facing UIs. The Digital Credit Application had to serve all three from the same platform without forcing every customer into the same flow.

Senior Salesforce Capacity at Embed Quality

Hiring senior Salesforce engineers is slow and competitive. Generic staff augmentation rarely matches the quality of an engineer who’s been embedded in the codebase for a year. The client needed long-term embed quality without the long-term hiring cycle.

Parallel Projects That Couldn't Wait

several parallel projects — all needed sustained delivery alongside DCA. A staff aug contractor who rolled off mid-project meant restarting the ramp on the next one. The team needed engineers who’d carry context across projects.

2. The Engineer Approach

Since October 2021, RTS Labs has provided senior Salesforce developers who embed directly into the client’s Enterprise Application team — not as staff augmentation, but as long-term co-developers. The engagement scales through quarterly SOWs (now on SOW19 for Q1/Q2 2026), with 40-hour-per-week senior Salesforce resources integrating into the broader client team and shipping on the client’s engineering platform. Work spans declarative and programmatic Salesforce development (Apex, VisualForce, Lightning Framework), API integrations with customer credit and partner systems, unit tests, and QA — all on the client’s existing infrastructure with the client’s security and acceptance criteria.

  • Salesforce Platform Development

Senior RTS Labs Salesforce developers ship both declarative (Lightning App Builder, Flow, Process Builder) and programmatic (Apex, VisualForce, Lightning Web Components) work on the client's existing Salesforce platform. Code lives in the client's repos, follows the client's review process, and integrates with the client's CI/CD — there is no separate RTS environment.

  • Credit & Partner API Integrations

Built integrations with the client's customer credit APIs and partner APIs across all three lines of business — three distinct lines of business. Each line has its own regulatory profile, partner ecosystem, and underwriting workflow; the integration layer handles all three from the same platform.

  • Quality Assurance & Testing

Created and implemented unit tests and quality assurance tests for every shipped feature. Each release passes both RTS internal review and the client's acceptance criteria before going to production. The client's security requirements apply to every commit; nothing ships outside the client's existing engineering process.

  • Embedded Team Integration

RTS engineers integrate directly into the broader client team — attending standups, owning Jira tickets alongside the client's engineers, participating in technical design reviews. Ramp-up happens once at the start of the engagement; turnover is rare. The result: the client gets senior Salesforce velocity without permanent headcount, and RTS engineers gain deep domain knowledge that compounds across SOWs.

The client needed to move fast on their Digital Credit Application, but they were bottlenecked on Salesforce capacity. Their internal team was stretched thin trying to cover three separate lines of business, and traditional hiring wasn't going to cut it on their timeline. We embedded directly into their engineering org and became an extension of their team. Instead of waiting months to onboard new hires, they had experienced Salesforce developers shipping code within weeks. We handled the heavy lifting on Apex, integrations, and Lightning development while their team focused on architecture and strategy. Twelve months later, the Digital Credit Application was live and handling transactions across their entire enterprise. Three years later, we're still here—because it worked. That's the kind of partnership that sticks.

Before RTS Labs

  • Hiring Delays & Friction

Slow path to senior Salesforce capacity through traditional hiring

  • High Contractor Turnover

Staff augmentation contractors required re-ramp every quarter

  • Competing Project Roadmaps

Parallel projects competing for the same limited bench

  • Fragile Project Hand-offs

Knowledge silos when contractors rolled off mid-project

After RTS Labs

  • Integrated Senior Engineers

Embedded senior Salesforce engineers ship alongside the client's team

  • Frictionless Scaling Model

Quarterly SOWs scale capacity up or down without re-onboarding

  • Long-Term Team Continuity

Same engineers across SOWs — zero ramp-up between quarters

  • Compounding Domain Knowledge

Continuous knowledge investment that compounds with each SOW
